Born and raised in the Punjab state, owners Joginder and Swarnjit Shah made their way to the small town of Maple Ridge in 1994, where at first they actually set up a European cuisine shop of lasagnas, quiches and other Euro dishes. It quickly became evident that despite the success of this restaurant, they needed to show the people of Maple Ridge what true flavor is and represent their heritage. With that in mind, they needed a name. This is where GM Restaurant truly finds it’s fundamentals as a family owned business, as they ultimately chose to name it after their sons, Gourav and Manvdeep.
Ever since, GM Restaurant has become a corner stone of dining in not only the Maple Ridge area, but all over the lower mainland. Hailed by many to be the best, most authentic Indian food available, it is evident as soon as you walk through the doors and smell the dishes being prepared that you are truly in for a journey. You will be welcomed by our friendly staff and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are truly part of the family, whether you have been here since that first day or today you have decided to check out what all the buzz is about.
